Anna hasn’t been to the ocean in a long time, her memories of venturing to the beach covered with corroding sand, everything too fuzzy for her to make out. But standing on the warm sand, heated by the sun’s gentle kisses of light, she looks out at the water. It almost blends into the sky, a gradient from the waters to the skies, the horizon blurring the farther out she gazes.
Ruby wraps her arms around Anna’s neck, pushing up against her. One thing about swimsuits is how exposing they are, skin pressing to skin, body heat easily transferring, even through the fabric of the bikini tops. Ruby cranes her neck, getting a look at Anna’s eyes, still fixed on the ocean.
“You gonna stare at it all day?” Ruby teases, hugging Anna a little tighter. Tenderly, she plants a kiss on Anna’s temple, “Or are we going in?”
Anna hums, still focused on the ocean. That’s not enough for Ruby, the girl deciding to make a trail down Anna’s face with sweet kisses, soon reaching Anna’s mouth. There’s a stifled little moan from Anna, but soon she melts into it, still leaning forward even when Ruby draws back away.
“Oh, so you just want me to kiss you while you stare down tourists,” Ruby laughs, kissing just above Anna’s eyebrow, “Classy, angel, really classy.”
“If I say I changed my mind would you let me go?” Anna asks, looking at Ruby from the corner of her eye. She tries not to smile, but she does find herself stroking Ruby’s back, showing some sign of enjoyment.
Ruby smirks with a laugh, kissing just below her earlobe before whispering, “Not a chance.”

Contradiction

thecorruptedquietone:

You’re a ray of cold sunshine,” Ruby says, tone bitter as cheap lukewarm morning coffee. A lot of the things she says sounds that way—acerbic cynicism twisted with acrid sarcasm—something characteristic yet cutting, a frostbitten burn, frozen fire scorching and chilling. She has a habit of making everything she says seem like that—scathing and sardonic—but Anna tends to know when she means it affectionately, when it’s a warped form of endearment or a demented word of praise.

Anna lolls her head back, eyes glazed over with exhaustion. Her pale arms are folded over her angular knees, hugging her legs to her bosom. She shuts her eyes as Ruby reaches down, her fine fingers running through a patch of Anna’s flowing scarlet hair. A lazy smile contorts on her face, a breathless laugh escaping her mouth as she feels Ruby gently yanking the roots of her hair.

And you’re a breath of acid rain,” Anna smoothly replies, immersed in the lovely feeling of the tips of Ruby’s fingers sliding against her head, combing the strands of hair in the gaps between index, middle, ring, and pinkie. Her smile remains, even growing when she opens her eyes, meeting the dark glassy ones in but a second or two.

Ruby smirks, pleased as a cat with her prey of a wounded bird between her paws. She twirls Anna’s hair as she ducks down, full juicy lips pressing down on Anna’s forehead. She just keeps them there, lightly breathing against the skin, smiling even more when she hears Anna hum in content. Soon she feels a soft hand caress the side of her face, palm brushing over her skin with fragile and flawless delicacy.

You’re still mine, sunshine.

I’m keeping you around any rainy day.
